Summer Fun!

Welcome back to our newest installment of our Homeplace blog! We have had so much fun this summer here at the HOH. As summer comes to an end, let’s do a brief recap of some of the awesome activities we have had this summer.

We have enjoyed many summer days full of fishing and fun, as well as water balloon fights in our Memory Care! We have enjoyed many evenings full of live music by some of our favorite local artists as well as bingo everyday! We have loved painting with our local art studio partnership with Whims and Wishes as well – this previous month painting a beautiful cross door hanger for our residents and their apartments.

One of the biggest highlights of our summer activities had to be our awesome 4th of July event that we hosted here at Homeplace. We had an amazing meal prepared by our dietary team as well as live music, an ice cream truck, and lots of dancing! Our firework show was top notch even though we had some slight rain, the residents and families loved it!

We hosted our monthly dementia seminar in July covering the topic of Different Types of Dementia – diving deeper into the differences between each type and the signs of each to differentiate them. We had an excellent book giveaway that specialized in the different less common types of dementia that we were able to gift to an audience member as well!

Looking towards some new activities for the month of August, we are hosting our monthly dementia seminar covering the topic of Speech & Sexuality changes. This topic is extremely important when dealing with a loved one going through this disease process and one that can be difficult to navigate. If you have a loved one struggling with this disease process please join this month’s conversation via Zoom!

We have had previous outings this summer to Ellis Park to watch the horse races, as well as to the EastGate family restaurant. This month we will hold our outing at the Olive Garden where the residents can enjoy endless breadsticks! We are looking forward to this outing with the residents just as they are!

We will have our daily bingo games, as well as our balloon volleyball and chair exercises as we always do, but as the dog days of summer come to a close we could not be more thrilled for what is to come here in the next month at Homeplace.

We hope you all enjoyed this latest installment of our Homeplace blog and we look forward to speaking with you all soon with some awesome new announcements!
