You’ve heard the old analogy of wanting to kick the tires and slam the doors before making a car purchase, or for that matter, buying anything else. You want to see it, feel it, and test it before you buy. And at Homeplace of Henderson,we agree with that analogy. A senior and his family ought to do their due diligence before making a commitment to move into our assisted living and memory care community. And we help them do that. We go out of our way to offer personalized tours for each prospective resident and his family so that they can have all the information needed to make this important decision. And if for any reason the prospective resident and family can’t come to our campus, we go to them.
Wherever we meet, we always want to include the prospective resident in the conversation. This allows him to be a part of the decision-making process, which is one of the tenets of our personalized-care model. Having a prospective resident present also allows both he and his family to talk about the programs and facilities each think he needs. The senior citizen may not identify with anything we offer, while on the other hand, his daughter may see it completely differently.
In both on-site and off-site tours, we truly take the time to get to know the prospective client and his family’s wants and needs. During an on-site visit, we’ll talk about and show off our rooms and different services we offer. We’ll illustrate these same things during off-site visits. And not only will we go to homes, but also make visits at hospitals and rehabilitation facilities.
We do all this because first we need to know that Homeplace is a good fit for the next stage of the elder loved one’s life. But, like any partnership, we also need to learn if the prospect is suitable for Homeplace. On first hearing this, it might sound off-putting. But it’s not as it sounds. We want to help every resident that we can. There are, however, some residents we can’t help because their level of care exceeds what we, as an assisted living facility, can give by law. If that’s the case, we’re not able to accept your family member. An example would be a prospective resident that is bed bound and can’t assist our staff in his own care. If that’s the case, then that resident would need to go to a community that provides a higher level of assistance.
But don’t worry—we won’t leave your family high and dry. No matter the circumstance, we’ll still help your loved one find his new home. When a resident needs to move out of our community, or when it’s not a good fit for him to move in, we still set up meetings with the resident, family members, our own representative, and representatives of another community. We at Homeplace know that your senior loved one deserves a suitable, comfortable place to live, and we always help him find it, even if it’s not with us.
