Interior Details of Homeplace

There are many things that residents will notice about Homeplace of Henderson as they go through their day. Probably they’ll stroll through the scenic downtown in our memory care unit and enjoy the different stores we’ve constructed to recreate a townscape. They’ll look outside and notice our beautiful grounds complete with a fishing pond, and in the distance, The Bridges Golf Club. And, as was written in last week’s blog, they’ll probably notice how tasty the food we serve up is.

But they won’t notice some key points that are of the utmost importance, and that’s a good thing. That’s because it’s not good when some things get noticed.

In daily life, you’re more likely to hear a negative comment about a chair than you will a positive one. Most people expect the comfort of a chair to be very good, or even acceptable, and so when they stand from it, they go on their day without another thought. But when the chair is uncomfortable, that’s when complaints come.

“Ahh, my back is killing me.

“That chair was like sitting on a pad of bricks.”

This won’t happen at Homeplace. We’re inspecting each piece of furniture we buy with the frame of mind of our residents. Does it feel nice? Is it easy to stand up from? Is this the look that we want in our home? You get the picture.

This is a home, and every bit of it works together to make for an experience our residents enjoy. Just think if they’re seated in the big dining room and their meal is exquisite, but the chair in which they’re sitting hurts their rear. It detracts from their experience.

Another detail people rarely think of – until it’s not up to snuff – is lighting. We’re asking similar questions with this feature. Is there enough light so our residents don’t bump into something? Is it so bright that it’s distracting? Having the right amount is very important for our residents, especially when they’re moving around.

These are just two of the details that we rack our brains about. There are more—many more. We want our residents to know that no decision is taken lightly at Homeplace. All of them add up to create the experience and feel of this place our residents call home.
