Last week, we wrote about the state-of-the-art technology Homeplace will use to keep our memory care residents safe. That system is called Foresite, and it uses infrared technology to monitor residents. This is something that we’re proud of because Homeplace will be the first senior living community in the state to employ this technology. This week, we’re showing you another system that further proves how thorough we are about keeping our residents safe.
This system is an emergency pendant that comes from the company, CenTrak. We will issue this pendant to every personal care resident who comes to live with us.
Here are the basics. The waterproof pendant can be worn as a necklace or a watch. When a resident wearing it falls or encounters another emergency, she can press the button on the pendant. This will then send a signal to Homeplace staff, who can then rush directly to assist the resident.
There’s a change in this current pendant over past technologies, though. In past models, the signal alerted staff that a particular resident who lives in Room 101 has fallen. In those instances, staff first rushed to the resident’s room, which could have been problematic because the resident may not have fallen in her room. She possibly could have been out on the porch or visiting another resident. The ensuing search took valuable time that may have proven detrimental to the resident. With the current pendant provided by CenTrak, the message sent to Homeplace staff will provide a real-time location, and this will allow us to go directly to the resident—wherever she may be on our campus—and save precious time.
This CenTrak technology only works on the Homeplace campus, so if a family comes to take a resident out for the day, they should know that it won’t function outside our community.
As mentioned earlier, each personal care resident will be issued a CenTrak pendant as part of our admission process. If our blog posts the past two weeks prove anything, they prove that we will go above and beyond to keep our residents as safe as possible. Residents and their families know they’re in good hands with us.
