Memory Care Community Nurtures the Mind, Heart, and Spirit

Written By: Betsy Gibson, Memory Care Director

When it comes to dementia care, safety is essential—but so is stimulation, compassion, and a sense of home. At Homeplace of Henderson Memory Care, we believe that every resident, no matter their cognitive ability, deserves to live with dignity, joy, and connection.

Our physical spaces are more than walls and hallways—they’re designed to spark memory, ease confusion, and encourage comfort.

  • Secure but Inviting Layouts: Simple navigation and natural lighting reduce anxiety and create a sense of independence.
  • Themed Areas: Reminiscence time in the park or outside under the pergola, craft room, or vintage décor areas help trigger long-term memories and conversation.
  • Sensory Gardens & Outdoor Walkways: Gentle textures, fragrant plants, and safe paths provide a peaceful connection with nature.
  • Nostalgic Downtown Main Street: Our unique approach brings the charm of a nostalgic downtown main street to our residents, creating familiar and comforting experiences that evoke cherished memories. Residents can shop in the general store, enjoy music under the pergola, participate in activities in the park, worship in the chapel, or have coffee and conversation in the sports shop while ladies visit the beauty shop.

Daily Stimulation, Designed with Purpose

We tailor our programming to meet the cognitive needs of our residents—with flexibility and heart.

  • Routine & Rhythm: Gentle schedules ground the day and reduce disorientation.
  • Meaningful Activities: From guided art sessions to singalongs, our activities aren’t just time-fillers—they’re gateways to joy, memories, and self-expression.
  • Tech-Assisted Connection: Thoughtfully selected tools help residents video chat with family or revisit favorite music from their past.

Staff Who Lead With Heart

Behind every peaceful moment is a team member whose compassion drives them.

  • Specialized Training: Our caregivers are trained in dementia-specific techniques, including redirection, validation therapy, and gentle communication strategies.
  • Personalized Approach: We take time to learn each resident’s life story, preferences, and habits, so we can support not just the person, but the individual.
  • Family Partnerships: We see families as part of the care team. Whether you assist with care, activities, likes, dislikes, or just sitting and spending quality time with your loved one.

We love working alongside our residents, families, and staff to ensure the best for our Homeplace Family!
