Every day at Homeplace is special!

“Homeplace is my home. When you look out every morning, you never know what you are going to see. Everyday is special here, you don’t even have time to get sick because there are so many choices of things to do.” (Pat Taylor, Resident)

It has been a busy 2 weeks here at the Homeplace of Henderson! We have enjoyed many activities, and made many memories! Let’s do a recap of the past few weeks here at the Homeplace…

Starting off strong, we began our week with some fall fishing by the pond and some bingo! Our residents love spending the afternoon relaxing and trying to catch some bites down on our beautiful built-in pond on our property. Mr. Fred Collins caught multiple bluegills but was hoping for a bass! Ultimately we had a great time, and right after fishing ended we jumped straight into Bingo with 30 Girl Scouts! The ladies loved getting to share their bingo cards with the girls and ultimately the residents received some fall themed gift baskets as prizes.

One of our biggest events that we host each year is our Cruise-In Car Show! Last Friday we hosted the event and had such an amazing turnout. All of our residents enjoyed grazing through the parking lot and admiring all of the old-timey vehicles, while voting on their top 2 favorites! We had residents from our Memory Care come take a glance at the vehicles as well, and it was a beautiful day to enjoy the company and the cars. On the inside of the building, we were serving up fresh popped popcorn for all of the guests and residents, and we even had some of the residents help us serve it up! Overall it was such a wonderful experience, and the car who took home the top spot was a 1971 yellow Chevelle.

Last but certainly not least, we had our monthly outing on the 3rd to Homer’s Barbeque! We had over half of our residents in attendance, and we had the best time! The residents enjoyed BBQ nachos, ribs, pulled pork, and one of the most popular items of the day, the patty melt! All of our residents were able to sit out on the patio and conversate with the staff and other residents, and enjoyed the sunshine paired with good company. We had some families come join us down at Homer’s as well, coming out to have a special meal with their loved ones on a beautiful day. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, and catered to our residents every need. We love supporting local businesses, and being able to take the residents downtown on an early sunny afternoon is always something that the residents enjoy.

As we take a glance on the past 2 weeks at Homeplace, we see that the residents are enjoying multitudes of activities and events, as well as our staff. Here at Homeplace we are a family, and we enjoy being able to create an environment that is warm and welcoming. Here at Homeplace there is always something happening!
